SpaceFM 0.8.1 and udevil 0.3.4

Finally SpaceFM 0.8.1 has been released – details in News. Also, udevil 0.3.4 is available.

UPDATE 2012-10-23:: The deprecated hal build (configure ––enable-hal) is broken in 0.8.1 (and prior). Until 0.8.2 is released, hal users can build from this modified tarball to correct the hal issues in 0.8.1. spacefm-hal in the PPA has been temporarily reverted to 0.7.5 (apparently the last version that worked with hal!) Although hal support is deprecated (no longer actively developed), all SpaceFM releases should still build with hal, so users should continue to report issues if it doesn’t.

  1. +1 Nice that BwackNinja can assist for GTK 3.

  2. Right now I’ve started off of the current next branch and cleaned up my commits. The only thing left is still porting the desktop code. That’s a bit more difficult because of the interactions with X and pixmaps that it has. It builds with –disable-desktop-integration and works well enough for me to us as my regular file manager.

    Work is now at: https://github.com/BwackNinja/spacefm/commits/next

    • Gtk3 port is ready for review beyond whatever sorcery replaces GTK_WIDGET_SET_FLAGS and GTK_WIDGET_UNSET_FLAGS dealing with focus in the desktop window.

Does this mean you have it building gtk3 with desktop-integration enabled now?

I’m not too worried about the focus issue – is just cosmetic afaik.

        • Yep, it builds with desktop integration and shows a wallpaper and icons without issues.

    • I have updated the News link to point to your ‘next’ branch. I now see you do say desktop-integration is building – nice work!

  3. Just to say thanks to IgnorantGuru and BwackNinja for keeping udevil and spacefm alive and kicking!
SpaceFM 0.8.1 and udevil 0.3.4 already built and available in antiX repos.
